WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

The nature of the child is to play, explore, adventure, discover, and be active. The nature of most schools is to teach students discipline, sit still, and learn what has been decided for them. This workshop aims to find a marriage between these two opposing needs. Jam packed with time-friendly tips and best practices to create a skills-based classroom, this is an experiential learning workshop. We will learn to use developmentally appropriate strategies to learn rigorously. We will explore how play, construction, theater, music, drama, tech can be leveraged to teach math, social studies, science, and language skills without pressurizing the child. We will reflect on our own learning preferences and biases and create a classroom focused on the needs of the child.
